My E-Trike? It’s Not a Bicycle, It’s My Second Car (And Honestly, I Prefer It Most Days)
Alright, mate? Let me tell you about the absolute game-changer in my life: my electric trike. The wife teased me at first – called it my “old man mobile”. But who’s laughing now when I’m whizzing past the traffic on the high street and she’s stuck looking for a parking space?
For the Big Shop:
Remember trying to juggle six bags for life on the bus? Nightmare. Now, I just pop the panniers on the back of my trike. That thing carries a whopping “150kg”! I can do a full weekly shop for the family and still have room for a bag of compost from the garden centre. The “big, chunky tyres” just soak up the kerbs, and I feel rock-solid stable, even fully loaded.
Popping to the Pub & Seeing Mates:
It’s brilliant for us lot who’ve got a few more miles on the clock. No more worrying about wobbling or balance. The “three wheels” mean I can stop on a hill to chat to Geoff from number 42 without panic. The “electric assist” is lovely – a gentle push up the hills around town without breaking a sweat. At a sensible “15-and-a-bit mph”, it’s quick enough to be useful but safe enough for shared paths. I just cruise.
For the Missus:
She’s commandeered it more than once, I tell you. She uses it for everything: taking parcels to the Post Office, going to her yoga class, picking up grandkids from school. She feels safe on it, which is the main thing. It’s all “one speed” – no confusing gears – just twist and go. She plugs it in when she gets home (charges up while we have our tea), and it’s ready to go again the next morning. Cheaper than a second car, that’s for sure!
Honest Truth:
It’s built like a tank – proper “iron frame” – so it can handle our potholed roads. It’s not about being sporty; it’s about being smart. It’s given us a proper bit of freedom back. We’re out more, spending less on petrol, and honestly, it’s a bit of a laugh. Everyone wants to talk about it!
Fancy a Go?
If you’re after a easier way to get about – whether you’re running a business, running a home, or just running errands – you’ve got to try one.
